ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry, hitting back at recent criticism of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) by PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, advised him to prefer meeting lawyers in lieu of politicians.
Assailing the former president, the minister said in a Twitter statement that Mr Zardari will realise the importance of this free-of-cost advice not in weeks, but days.
Responding to the PPP leader’s statement about moving a no-trust motion against the PTI-led coalition government, he said that governments are not shown the door through motions as votes are required for the purpose.
Mr Chaudhry taunted that Mr Zardari didn’t now enjoy the strength of votes, which he said, he lost in the way of making money.
About Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Saudi Arabia, the minister said the respect the premier is accorded in Saudi Arabia shows the status of Pakistan in the Muslim Ummah.
His statement came in the wake of the PPP co-chairman’s meeting with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman a day earlier.
Addressing media after the meeting, Zardari said that he struggled for the sake of democracy since the last decade, but unfortunately democratic forces appear to be weakening in the country.
“We struggled together for sake of democracy since last ten years, but democratic forces appear to be weakening. It doesn’t seem the nation can be governed anymore. We are just fulfilling our democratic responsibilities,” he said.
However, he hinted that the PPP does not necessary intend to bring down the incumbent government, but its way of governance was rather undemocratic. He reiterated that the current administration was incompetent on running the country’s affairs.
